Details of Appledore village

Appledore village Rose Cottage is situated on a quiet lane on the edge of the village of Appledore.  There are views towards open countryside at the front and a secluded garden to the rear.  The cottage was originally part of the Crown Estates and dates from around 1850.

Appledore sits beside the Royal Military Canal on the edge of the Romney Marshes.  The village has a 13th century church, restaurant/pubs, antique and tea shop and a village shop/post office which provides a good range of general produce in addition to dairy, fruit, vegetables and meat which are locally sourced.

The medieval parish church is dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul.  A French raid in 1380 resulted in the burning of the church: it was later rebuilt.  The Royal Military Canal was built following the threat of invasion by Napoleon. The canal offers good walks and fishing (day tickets are available locally).
